Keeping fees low

  • Avoid decline fees. Most declines happen when a transaction exceeds the card's balance or spending limit. Keep your card funded and set a spending limit that matches how you use the card.
  • Maintenance is refundable. If you spend more than $200 on a card in a month, the $1.00 maintenance fee for that month is refunded.
  • Funding and transactions are free. There is no charge for funding a card from your wallet, and no per-transaction charge on successful payments.

Currency conversion

When you fund your NGN wallet and convert to USD, the conversion uses the prevailing exchange rate shown in your dashboard at the time of conversion. See How Mercurie Card Works for the full funding flow.

Common questions

When is the issuance fee charged? Once, at the moment the card is created. It is deducted from the balance you fund the card with.

Do I pay maintenance on every card I hold? Maintenance is charged per card, per month, and refunded for any card that spends more than $200 that month.

What counts as a cross-border transaction? A payment processed by a merchant or platform outside the US. Mercurie USD cards are US-issued, so a charge settled outside the US carries the 2.5% fee on top of the transaction amount.

How do I stop paying decline fees? Check the card's balance and spending limit before large payments, and top up the card before recurring charges like ad platforms or subscriptions bill.
